14 Best Countries for Your First Solo Female Adventure: Empowerment Through Travel
If you’re ready to embrace the freedom and empowerment of solo travel as a woman, I’ve got you covered!
In this blog post, which is an extension of my podcast episode 14 on She Thrives with Stef Barti, I’m diving into the best countries for your first solo female adventure.
Now, before we jump into the list, I want to acknowledge that solo travel can be different for women.
It’s not about being sexist; it’s just the reality of navigating the world as a woman.
While traveling is a transformative and thrilling experience for anyone, women often face different safety concerns and considerations when traveling alone.
And that’s why I’ve curated this list based on two key factors: safety and ease of travel. So, let’s dive in!
1. Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland)
I’m starting off with a bit of a cheat because Scandinavia isn’t just one country—it’s a region.
But hear me out!
If you’re looking for an incredibly safe, easy-to-navigate region with stunning landscapes, rich culture, and a reputation for welcoming travelers, Scandinavia is the place.
Norway, Denmark, and Finland (plus the Faroe Islands) are known for their low crime rates, excellent public transport systems, and overall safety.

Plus, the locals are friendly, and English is widely spoken. If you’re seeking the peace of nature or vibrant cities, Scandinavia has both in spades.
Trust me, these are not to be taken for granted.
Most of times, I have an amazing travel experience but once in a while the proverbial matter also hits the fan.

2. Iceland
Iceland deserves its own mention—it’s that good!
If you’re a nature lover or someone seeking solitude, Iceland will steal your heart.

I spent three weeks there on my own, driving the Ring Road, hiking, and even camping in the wilderness.
Iceland is known for being one of the safest countries in the world.
Its otherworldly landscapes (volcanoes, glaciers, and waterfalls) will leave you in awe.

It’s a great place for a first-time solo female traveler who wants to experience the beauty of nature while feeling completely secure.

It’s all about embracing your sense of adventure and bringing more joy, love, and power into your life.

3. Estonia
Let’s talk about the Baltics—specifically Estonia.
This little gem is often overlooked, but it’s one of the safest places to travel solo as a woman.

Estonia feels like stepping into a fairy tale with its medieval castles and charming cobblestone streets.

The locals are warm, the prices are reasonable. And the country offers a peaceful atmosphere perfect for female travelers seeking adventure without the chaos of larger crowds.

4. Latvia
Next up is Latvia.
It’s part of the Baltics but deserves its own spotlight.
I’ve been to Latvia several times, and it remains one of my favorites.

It’s safe, affordable, and filled with vibrant cities like Riga, where you can stroll through charming old town streets, enjoy the local culture, and immerse yourself in nature.
Plus, the people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. It’s perfect for a solo woman who wants an off-the-beaten-path experience.

5. Italy
Ah, Italy—what’s not to love?
Italy is a classic for a reason, and it’s definitely a go-to destination for solo female travelers.
Whether you’re strolling through the streets of Rome, sipping wine in Tuscany, or getting lost in Venice, Italy offers a wealth of culture, history, and charm.

It’s easy to travel around, with excellent public transportation and a vibrant atmosphere.
Plus, the Italian men might call you bella, and we all know how that makes us feel! 😅
6. Western Europe (France, UK, Netherlands, Belgium)
Western Europe is a no-brainer, and it’s where many solo female travelers begin their journey. T
he infrastructure is excellent, and these countries are generally very safe.

From the romantic streets of Paris to the bustling vibe of London, there’s something for everyone.
I recommend visiting the lesser-known regions too, like the beautiful small towns of France or the quaint villages of Belgium, for a more peaceful and authentic experience.
7. United Arab Emirates (UAE)
I know, this might surprise some people, but hear me out.
UAE is one of the safest places for women.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are cosmopolitan cities with everything you need for a luxurious or budget-friendly trip.
Public transportation is easy, and the country has a very low crime rate.
Plus, it’s a fantastic spot for a city break or beach getaway, music and cultural events with a year-round sunny climate.

And it’s surprisingly affordable if you do a little research!
Also if you love food, there will be so much on offer.
8. Canada (Montreal, Quebec)
Now it’s time for me to rep my hometown a little bit. 🤭
If you’re looking for a familiar, comfortable destination with a strong culture of hospitality, then Canada, and specifically Montreal, should be on your radar.
Montreal has a rich food scene, vibrant nightlife, and stunning architecture.
The locals are kind, the country is safe, and it’s easy to get around. Whether you love nature, art, or culinary experiences, Canada has it all.
9. Serbia
Serbia is slowly becoming a hidden gem for solo female travelers.
It may not be the first country that comes to mind, but believe me when I say this place has so much to offer.

From the charming capital of Belgrade to the serene countryside, Serbia is a great place for those looking for a mix of history, culture, and adventure.

It’s affordable, the locals are warm and welcoming, and the country is incredibly safe for women traveling alone.
10. Portugal
Lastly, I’m adding Portugal to the list because it’s an incredibly welcoming country for solo female travelers.
Known for its beautiful beaches, charming cities, and delicious food (oh, the Porto wine!),
Portugal offers a safe and comfortable travel experience.
Whether you’re enjoying a relaxing beach holiday or diving into the city life in Lisbon, Portugal is perfect for those who want a bit of everything.
11. Bulgaria
Bulgaria is also another favorite of mine. 🤗

Additional Resource to help you slow down
Feminine embodiment & Self Love Practice
I created my “Unleash your Feminine Power” to help you really start diving into your own unique power.

In this course, you will learn to connect with your body through some very sensual movements.
There is no fancy choreography to worry about. I really wanted to make this as simple as possible.
The goal is to give you a somatic practice that you can implement into your daily routine in order to start embodying your authentic self.

It is high time we start prioritizing our relationship with our own body too.
Because in order to be truly happy and content in life, I really believe you need to strike for a balance.
That means feeding your soul, your heart, your body.

And this is the goal of my ” Unleash your Feminine Power“.
The beautiful thing is that once you start getting in touch with that fire within, it only grows from there.
This energy will go on to light up your path, simultaneously guiding you through life.
So in a way, it is your own inner guiding compass. 💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
