10 Reasons You Will Fall In Love With Bali
I absolutely love Bali. But I won’t lie. I need to say that it was NOT love at first sight.
I am so grateful for the fact that I did not like it at first, because it allows me to understand both sides.
Thanks to my previous experience, I was able to write the top 21 things you will hate about Bali blog.

And since my love gradually grew after spending some time in Ubud, now I can come back and write about my favourite reasons why you will fall in love with Bali
Greenery

The first thing I noticed in Bali, right after landing, was the beautiful greenery.
There are so many trees. You automatically feel as if you’ve been teleported far away into another world.
It feels very zen and so peaceful
Nutritious food

This is definitely one of my favourite things about Bali. I love the food so much.
I had very high expectations before going and the island of Gods exceeded every single one of them.
When it comes to food, it’s not really about fanciness or anything of that sort.

Yes of course, you will find plenty of elaborate and all types of creative meals.
The thing that stood out for me was the quality of the ingredients. Everything is so fresh.
You can really feel the earth’s energy right into your plate. It’s so magical.
Bali has really renewed my love for food and my appreciation for high quality and home cooked meals.
Something magical in the air

You’ve probably heard this before and you probably thought it was cheesy AF
I know, I know 🫣
I also used to be one of those people to roll my eyes.
But after spending a few months in Bali, I can definitely say it is a thing. There is something in the air.
Bali is definitely spiritual and that is especially true for Ubud.
Balinese hospitality

Oh my!
Where do I even start?
I keep saying this over and over again. Yes “the top 10 best things to do and popular landmarks” are cool.
But I travel for the soul of a place.
To me, it’s all about the vibes. And let me tell you that the locals can obviously make or break it.
Bali scores really high on the hospitality side of things .
People are so warm and welcoming. And this made me fall in love with the place even more
Going with the flow

There is a bit of cognitive dissonance here.
At first, Bali is so hectic.
There is so much traffic everywhere. And many people struggle with that. It can be overwhelming!
But then something happens. Bali kinda forces you to surrender.
I even have the best example for you.
It’s time for a little Bali story

On the day I was leaving, after arriving at the airport, I did the usual steps.
You know, boarding pass, security check and stuff.
Ok nothing crazy, seemed like a regular travel day.
But then, it was time for the last step before heading towards my gate. I had to go through customs.
So first of all, there was a massive queue.
So already there, Bali was testing my patience.
The queue was moving, slowly but surely.
Then it was finally about to be my turn. I was about to be rewarded at last and then I’ll be able to relax.
But nope, not so fast!

Just before it was my turn to walk to the immigration counter, their system started glitching.
So right before my turn, the entire computer network and IT just stopped working. And to make things worse, there was no back up.
So we had no choice but to wait, just wait for things to resume their course naturally.
I travel a lot for work and this has never happened to me before. I never heard of a country’s immigration computer shut down entirely with no back up system at all.
We were all there waiting, at the mercy of faith. It took an entire hour. And it resumed all by itself.
That was a major lesson in surrendering and going with the flow.

Mindfulness / Forces you to be present
Again, piggybacking on my previous example, Bali forces you to be present and grounded in the moment.
What’s so beautiful is that somehow this is still done amidst the chaos and crazy traffic.
Spirituality
I read another Bali blog complaining about this being a lie but I have to disagree.
The author was lamenting about the lack of spirituality.

After spending months in Bali, I really don’t understand which goes to show that we all have different experiences.
I personally found spirituality everywhere, from the morning rituals the locals would do to the mysterious vibes of Ubud to the dramatic sunset hues.
Again, we see what we seek
Always setting Intention

This was one my favourite things ever during my Bali trip.
I love watching the locals go on about their days. One of the main religions of the island is Hinduism which is deeply rooted in many rituals.
Finding peace within the chaos
Like I said before, even if Bali can feel very chaotic at first, there is also tremendous peace at its chore. It forces you to find your own stillness amidst all this chaos.
A general sense of humility and surrender

This can be seen as an extension of the local’s kindness. I felt a general sense of humility and surrender.
But this is a different type of surrender. You knot the type where you realize how insignificant you are in the grand scheme of things.
And how you’re just a tiny dust in the entire universe.
Ok not to be depressing or anything but it is so humbling.
Amazing shopping

All my shopping girlies will be in for such a treat!
I will be honest, before heading to Bali, I had no idea that there was so many high quality things to buy.
I wrote many Bali shopping Guides telling you:
- Some of the best things to buy in Bali
- Some of my favourite Shops, places where I bought so many cool and unique gifts and souvenirs
- My favourite market
Check them out 🙂

Beautiful aesthetics
Humans love beautiful aesthetics. That’s probably why platform like instagram picked up so well. And it is no different in Bali. It’s no mystery.
That’s another reason why Bali keeps getting popular. They have nailed beautiful aesthetics to the T. So you can expect lots of natural element and boho chic.

Lots of beautiful and cozy coffee shops
My fellow coffee shops lovers will be so happy.
There are so many coffee shops, it’s insane. I felt so overwhelmed trying to explore a new one every day.
I would also like to urge you to go outside of the famous trail.
For example, you might find Copenhagen Canggu very popular but know that there are also tons of lesser known gems.

Keep an open mind and go explore.
Check my Bali best places to eat blog for further suggestions.
That said, I definitely recommend the cinnamon rolls at Copenhagen. 🤭
I would often drop by just to take a couple for take out.
High hospitality and customer service

I love it when a place has good hospitality and stellar customer service. To me it is such a basic and easy way to excel, yet I keep seeing businesses fall short on this category.
When it comes to Bali, I am happy to report that stellar customer service in public places, such as restaurants and coffee shops, is the norm.
Summary
So here we have it!
This blog covers some things that make Bali so special. And most importantly, why people are so attracted to the island of Gods.
After falling head over heels for Bali, I can definitely tell you that it is a very special place. I hope you also love it as much as I do.
