Is Bali Safe for Women? ( Solo Female Travel Safety Guide)
Let’s tackle the elephant in the room.
Did I find Bali safe after Traveling there as solo women?
Sadly that’s just the reality of life.
Trust me, I am the most optimistic person out there but I’m also super realist.

And this is an actual concern of mine and other fellow solo female traveller.
So that’s why I wanted to report back on my experience as a woman traveling solo in Bali.
So let’s talk safety.
My personal experience

Right off the bat, I want to say that I had a great experience in Bali.
Overall I would say that the general atmosphere is a one of respect towards women.
Now this is such a major contrast to my other travel experience that went a bit south.
So it was refreshing that I could walk around in Bali and get through the day.

Cat Calling
Here’s a major one that us women often have to deal with. I am so happy to report this was never the case in Bali.
I hate making broad statements but I feel that in general, Balinese people are not about the massive grandiose PDA.

Again, I might be wrong but this was just not my case during my months in Bali.
Now if you are used to traveling in Latin America or the USA or in some regions of the Middle East, where women are often seen as properties and commodities, then Bali will be a massive relief.
The joy of being able to go around as a normal human being and not have to deal with this denigrating attitude.

I’m tell you!
Ah, to be a woman!
Harassement
So I did not notice any harassment.
Yes I had some guys try to talk to me but it was always done in the most respectful way.

What about night time?
Now I must say that one of the reasons why my experience tends to be on the better side of things is because I generally don’t ever go out partying alone at night.
As my grandma would say, “most of the bad things happen at night”.
So no I am not telling you to not go out and have fun.
What I am telling you is that if you are going out at night, make sure that you are with a group of trusted friends.

Is it safe for women to go out partying alone at night?
I think this rule applies wherever in the world you might find yourself. It just is the reality of the world we live in.
Personally, I do not ever go out in a new country at night by myself.
Why would I put myself in such a vulnerable position? It is so much easier to be safe than sorry.

Safety tips
Again these are common rules that every lady should follow whether you find yourself traveling to Bali or anywhere else in the world for that matter.
Never leave your drinks unattended
This goes without saying. But please don’t ever leave your drinks unattended.
Under no circumstances.
If you need to go somewhere, do take your drinks with you.

And also make sure that you keep your eyes on your drink at all time, even if you are on the table.
Again, don’t accept drinks from strangers.
Like seriously, haven’t we seen enough movies where the bad guy quickly sneaks some substance into the girl’s drink? ๐ ๐

Trust me, it doesn’t take that long.
All it takes is a few seconds of inattention.
So please ladies, I really mean the best for you when I tell you these things.

I’m currently doing a 1 year dry challenge but I’m a total wine girl.
So I don’t know if you drink. But it you do, please do so responsibly.
There is absolutely nothing cute about passing our or blanking out. This is the quickest and easiest way to no woman’s land.
Better safe than sorry

I wish we didn’t live in such a world but we actually do. I was once listening to another women podcast and she referred to us women as “pedestrians living in a cars world”.
All this to say that with a bit of common sense, you can build the safest environment for yourself and have a great time, whether that be in Bali or somewhere else.
Prioritize daytime

Yes I know, I sound like a broken record now. I have repeated myself way too many times. That’s because I want you to really be safe.
If you have to go somewhere at night. Don’t you dare walking. Always order a Gojek ( the local scooter taxi service). And even better if you rent your own scooter. ๐ซถ๐พ
Don’t be paranoid but also don’t blindly trust strangers

Don’t blindly trust every single male spiritual leader
The reality is that we can get a false sense of safety and bonding. But many people also abuse this position of power. So yes let go and explore spirituality, if that’s a goal of yours.
But just be aware and do stay vigilant that professional boundaries don’t get crossed.

Summary
Here you have it. The goal isn’t to taint Bali’s idillic image. No place in the world is perfect. There’s always good and bad. So please do not let this blog scare you off from visiting Bali.
In the contrary, let it empower you. I want my fellow ladies to have the best tools and resources. It’s always better to be prepared. Like the old adage goes, better safe than sorry.
On that note, go out there and be the badass woman that you are.
Go explore the world and cheers to many adventures to come.
