Your Ultimate Guide to the Best Places to Eat in Tallinn, Estonia – A Foodie Blog
In this Tallinn food blog, I will tell you all about some of the best places to eat in the Estonian capital.
So yes, it is time to call all the foodies. If you are totally obsessed with food like I am, this guide is for you.
Without further ado, let’s dive in.
La Prima Pizza

Yes I know what you’re thinking.
Stef, I didn’t come all the way to Estonia to be eating Italian food.
I hear you sis but I always think a good city food guide includes a variety of options.

While I love local food, it’s also fun to know what the locals are eating and what places they’re obsessed with. And this is where La Prima Pizza comes in.
It is located in the old city and is extremely popular. The main chef is so serious about pizza that he spent a considerate amount of time in the Pizza motherland, Italy, in order to hone his skillset.

This lead to the opening of this charming little restaurant. It’s quite small though so I do recommend you make reservations in advance. There always seems to be a line up outside and I wouldn’t bet on just dropping by.
Yes, the pizza is that good.
Lore Bistroo

Lore Bistroo is really good. The meat is juicy and they also have some solid vegan options.
Now I am not vegan currently but I was for 7 years. All this to say that the vegan scene has come a long way. My friends invited me there and I am so happy I went. The restaurant has a nice fancier vibe and food was super creative. I also recommend their wine selection which pairs quite well with the food.
Ulo

This place is not to be missed. I will definitely make my way there again on my next visit to Tallinn.
First of all, the restaurant décor is absolutely lovely. I really love the green interior.
Moreover, the menu is a bit different and super creative. I was so intrigued by the various choices.

Thank goodness I was with a group of friends, so I ended up tasting a fair bit of different meals.
A highlight for me was the kimchi fries. The only thing that was a miss was the Raw cocoa cake. Besides that, everything was a hit.

Oh! and do not miss their cocktails. They were so good. Another A+ for the wine list 🙂
Pojhala brewery & tap room

What a pleasant surprise!
I kinda got dragged there and oh I’m so happy I ended up going.

Pojhala Brewery is very popular in Tallinn and I see why. I recommend you take their dedicated beer tour where they not only give you a deep tour of the brewery but you will also get to taste a gazillion craft beers.
I am more of a wine person and knows absolutely nothing about beer. But this tour really piqued my interest for beer.

Then when you’re done, you can end the tour upstairs at their Texas BBQ grill.
From my understanding, the restaurant’s head chef is an actual American all the way from Texas. And let me tell you, this is actually one of the best BBQ I’ve had in my life.

So do make this a priority during your visit to Tallinn. Only thing is do not forget to make reservations. Once again, the place is highly rated and is extremely popular.

Texas Cantina

What can I say?
I spent so much time in Estonia that I started having weird cravings 🙂 and this Tex mex just hits the spots.

The ribs were really good and the cocktails extra strong. The second you step inside, you will feel like you’ve teleported yourself somewhere south of the border
Balti Jaama Turg Market

One of my all time favorite places in Tallinn. This market really has it all. When it comes to food, you could go there every day and not only keep trying different food but also different cuisines. You can even find a highly rated Uzbek restaurant.

Breakfast Restaurant in Tallinn
Kohvik

I really like this little place. It’s more than a coffee shop. It’s so quirky and I recommend you go for breakfast. The food, coffee and even the cocktails were all great. Plus the service is amazing and the waiters are extra warm and welcoming.

Georgian Cuisine in Tallinn
Lendav Maaler

Craving for some Khachapuri and cheese overdose?
Look no further than Lendav Maaler. This restaurant is a bit fancier so it is really nice to dress up a bit for a great meal. I totally recommend you take a look at their wine list. The wine I ended up picking went so well with the food.
Cutest Tallinn Cocktail Bar
BWB Belgian Gastro Bar

Now that you’ve done some eating, it is the perfect time to relax and have a nice drink. Tallin has so many awesome cocktail bars. I could talk about this for days.
This little cocktail bar just opened when I went. I actually found it by accident. I was looking for the Viru tattoo studio and couldn’t find the door. So I popped into this cute bar to ask for help. And the lovely bartender Sergei went out of his way to help me out.

Long story short, I wasn’t able to get into the tattoo shop as they were closed but I ended up spending a lovely couple of hours at the BWB.
The décor gave me a Greek Mykonos vibe with the white wash walls. I went during the first opening week and they didn’t have food yet but now it looks like they do. Most of all, the ratings are extremely high and I am not at all surprised. I need to go back to enjoy their food.

If you end up going and see Sergei, I recommend sitting at the bar. He is the loveliest human being with so may interesting stories. Oh he also makes a killer Aperol spritz.
Best thing is they are located very close to the famous Tallinn gates ” Viru Gate”.
Mini Maru & The waterfront Pop Up cocktail Bars (around the Estonia Museum)

Mini Maru is not necessarily worth a crazy detour per se. But I would time it with a visit to the Estonia Marine Museum. It’s the type of place where you would make a quick pit stop for a refreshing drink while enjoying a Bayfront view for a couple of hours.

Even if you can’t find that specific one, there are quite a few seaside bars in the area. There’s Mere Park’la, Vicky and Iglubaar to name a few.

The Lore restaurant I named earlier is also in the area.
Naganaga , lowkey bar

I absolutely love this little place. It is not on the seaside but located in the old town. What I like about it is how small and cozy it feels. The décor and food were all perfect.
Last time I checked, it said it was permanently closed but I still refuse to believe it. I am leaving it here in this guide not only because of my denial but also because I think it’s worth checking to see if it reopens on your visit.
