15 Travel Lessons that will Change Your Life
Traveling is so much more than just seeing new places and eating flavorful dishes. As cheesy as it sounds, travel is often educational and a transformative experience.
Through travel, you continuously put yourself out of your comfort zone. Most of the time, you find yourself facing new situations that challenge you and force you to get out of your comfort zone.
It is not always roses and sunshine but you often find yourself picking up some nuggets of wisdom.
On that note, let me share some of the insights I’ve gained through years of perusing our beautiful world.
Blog posts like these are so important because they can help you gain perspective in life. Thus allowing you to be much more proactive, in control and reframe your mind.
Just like everything else in life, sometimes things are going great and other times, everything will seem to break loose.
Here is a list that I often go back to in order to re-calibrate myself and make sure I squeeze the best out of life when the ride gets a bit bumpy.

1. Align your life with your true priorities
Let’s be honest! Am I the only one who feels like there is way too much distraction in our modern times? Seriously! It is so easy to get sidetracked and sucked into false obligations and things that are simply not that important to us.
Next time you find yourself overwhelmed, take a minute and reassess your time and schedule.
Ask yourself if the things you find yourself busy with are truly in alignment with your utmost priorities and goals in life.
In order to live your best life, you truly need to prioritize your time as it is such a finite resource.
2. Have a daily routine
Trust me! Another overlooked way to get the best out of your life is with a routine. This is hands down the easiest way to gain control of your time, schedule and life.
A daily routine makes sure that you have a plan. This way you stay on track. Also I do believe this allows you to avoid mental fatigue.
A daily routine is simple and there is no reason not to have one. It helps you stay organized and is a key factor in helping you live your best life.

3. Keep yourself grounded with meditation
Getting the best out of life really does not have to be complicated.
Now I know!
This one sounds a little bit woohoo. I will be the first one to admit that I didn’t really get the fuss with this whole meditation. Just like yoga, I had written it off way back, without even trying it out.
Thank goodness that somehow along the way, I finally decided to give meditation a try. And let me tell you that it changed my life for the better.
Meditating doesn’t have to be scary or intimidating. Think of it as a relaxation tool for your brain. Anyone else here suffers from overthinking from the second they wake up until they fall back asleep again?
Yep, me too!
Give meditation a try. It does not have to be long. Even 5 minutes can make a massive difference in your life and improve your sanity and well being.
4. Learn to practice gratitude every chance you get
This one kinda goes hand in hand with meditation. Gratitude is something that is so simple, yet it is so often overlooked. Gratitude may sound fancy to you at first. But it is so straight forward.
It is just about reconditioning yourself and training your brain to be content and happy about what you have right now.
This way you can learn to be happier and also stop wasting time on negative things which only contributes to worsening your health without getting you anywhere.
I will tell you that this is the one thing that instantly made me feel more in control of my life. Try it yourself and let me know what you think. You seriously don’t have anything to loose.

5. Say no to limiting beliefs
Limiting beliefs truly don’t get you anywhere. It is like being in a car that has the capacity to get you places.
Except for one caveat, the car is empty with no fuel. In that case, you might wish and pray as much as you want but if the gas tank is empty, it just won’t bring you anywhere no matter how much you wish for.
My weird analogy aside, I hope you get the point. Limiting beliefs are pointless and won’t get you nowhere, just like that empty automobile.
Learn to be your greatest cheerleader instead and this will propel you so much further.
In order to have a great life, you ABSOLUTELY need to believe in yourself first and trust that you deserve and can accomplish what you put your mind and energy towards.
6. Don’t indulge in the negative talk
Same as our empty car, negative talk is a waste of time and energy. The sooner you ditch them and learn to control them, the better you will be. Whenever you catch that voice in your head, quickly get a hold of it and flip it around.

7. Believe that you are worthy & capable of achieving greatness
I was quite lucky to grow up with a mother who always told me that I could achieve everything and anything. It is never too late for any of us to work on our self esteem and develop our self worth.
There is no reason why you should doubt yourself. I truly believe you can achieve greatness as long as you want it hard enough and determined to put in the hard work and sweat.
The simple truth is that greatness cannot be achieved without hard work at first. Believe that you can and do the work and trust that you are deserving and worthy.

8. Stop overthinking everything
Where are my fellow over-thinkers?
This one I am still guilty of. I’ve learned the hard way that overthinking is a powerful illusion. Yes of course, you need to have a plan. But once a basic plan has been set up, it is futile not to get caught up in your head.
The quicker you act, the faster you’ll embody those plans.
Let’s all strive to put the pen down and get things done.
9. Invest in your skills and Keep learning
Education is your greatest weapon. And in order to insure the best that life has to offer, the reality is that you do need to invest into your education.
Things have changed so much, yet this statement has remained the same throughout time.
Albeit nowadays, education doesn’t just refer to a brick and mortar school or a classic diploma. With the rise of the internet, it has never been so easy to pick up a set of skills all from the comfort of your home.
The point is that since we live in an ever changing world, you too should keep striving to keep learning and investing in your own education.

10. Let go of toxic relationship
Now, we all saw that one coming! Ah! Toxic Relationship!
Where do I even begin?
Most of us have had at least one experience with a toxic friend. You know, that “friend” who is always complaining? The one who never has anything positive to share.
The friend who always needs you to lend an ear but never seems to be able to return the favor. Yes, the friend who’s constantly in victim mode.
Yep! The thing is sometimes it takes us a while to truly see the person for who they are. Then it can even take us longer to accept it. However, once you do, you know that deep down, this person is only holding you back.
So yes, toxicity has got to go. There is no way around it. Negativity and misery only breed more sadness. If you want to win in life, you do need to surround yourself with people that uplift you instead of dragging you further.

11. Keep learning to love yourself unconditionally
We should all strive to be in a healthy relationship with a healthy partner. Yet the truth is that no one will ever love you more than you ought to love yourself.
Today, make the promise to keep learning more about yourself. Take care of your body and your mental health. Above all, make sure you safeguard your sanity and do not let anyone treat you however they feel like.
Self love is a journey and one that we must all commit to.
12. Don’t be scared to keep adjusting and make changes
Just like self love, life is also a journey. And sometimes, things won’t go according to plan. So keep adjusting yourself and don’t be too harsh .
When life throws you lemon, learn to roll with them and make the best lemonade there is. Use this mindset and you can be unstoppable.

13. Ignite your passion, use them as fuel
So many of us grew up not knowing what we want out of life. Funny thing is, I think it is totally OK and normal. I believe that most people will keep growing and be pulled in different directions.
Just keep using your passion to get you started in the right direction. Dive deeper within to figure out what you like and take it from there.
Once you find something that you like and want to pursue, never stop to ask permission and seek social approval. On the same token, do not let others limiting belief handicap you.
14. Be in control of your finances
Yes, I know! This one is really boring. But the thing is there is no way around it. Money is extremely important and it can seriously cripple you.
The sooner you are in control of your finances , the more freedom you have in life to pursue your interests without worrying about paying the bills.
15. Let go of this idea of perfection
Lastly, don’t let perfection cripple you. It doesn’t exist . We are all imperfect human beings and we’re all just winging it.
No one had the chance to rehearse life.
We all only have one go at it. So just keep doing your best, maintain your sanity and things will fall in place.
