8 Powerful Ways to Get Out of a Funk Right Now
Welcome to She Thrives with Stef Barti, a podcast dedicated to empowering women to live their best lives and thrive unapologetically.
We all experience those moments when we’re stuck in a funk—whether it’s a bad mood, feeling overwhelmed, or just lacking motivation.
Sometimes, it feels impossible to break free from that mental space. But here’s the thing: you can shift your energy, and it starts with taking simple actions that ground you back into your body, mind, and soul.

In today’s post, I’m going to share some of my go-to strategies for getting out of a funk—whether it’s a bad morning, a slump in your day, or just that feeling of being stuck.
These are easy, actionable tips that anyone can do in a few minutes to start feeling better right away.
This blog post is based on Episode 23 of my podcast, She Thrives with Stef Barti. If you prefer to listen, you can check out the original podcast episo
Start with a Morning Routine
Having a morning routine is a game changer when it comes to setting the tone for your day.
And no, it doesn’t have to be complicated or fancy. It just has to be something that sets you up to feel grounded and centered.
I start my day by meditating and journaling, focusing on gratitude. Even if I don’t feel like it, I do it because I know it’ll shift my mindset.
Gratitude is one of the quickest ways to raise your vibration and remind yourself of all the good in your life.
Try it tomorrow morning: Wake up, sit down, and write down three things you’re grateful for. Even on tough days, this simple act can help you feel more grounded.
Meditation: Clear Your Mind and Reset
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or mentally drained, meditation is a powerful tool to clear the clutter.
I’m a fan of Deepak Chopra’s 21-day guided meditation for abundance, which you can find for free on Spotify. It’s a short 15-minute meditation that helps me focus, release negative energy, and restore balance.
When you meditate, you’re not just calming your mind—you’re also reconnecting with your body. And speaking of reconnecting…
Move Your Body
When you’re in a funk, chances are you’ve been stuck in your head for too long. Your body is craving movement, and that’s exactly what you need to get out of that mental space.
Whether it’s a morning workout or a spontaneous dance party in your living room, moving your body is an instant mood booster.

For me, dancing is one of the best ways to shake off negativity. I have a playlist of songs that I know will lift my energy, and I make time to dance for a few minutes whenever I’m feeling off.
If you prefer something slower, try stretching or yoga. Put on some calming music and move through slow, intentional stretches to release any tension you’re holding.
If you need some help to embody your magic, I created the perfect self love course to ignite the goddess in you ✨“Unleash Your Wild Feminine” ✨

Eat a Protein-Packed Breakfast
What you eat first thing in the morning sets the tone for your energy and mood. I’ve learned that a high-protein breakfast makes a huge difference in how I feel throughout the day.
Eggs with salmon or a hearty bowl with shrimp, complex carbs like quinoa, and avocado are some of my favorite combinations.
Aim for around 30-50 grams of protein to keep your blood sugar stable and your energy levels balanced.

Trust me, when I skip this step, I feel sluggish and more prone to mood dips. So prioritize a nourishing breakfast to fuel your body right.
Romanticize Your Life
It’s the little things that often make the biggest difference.
One of the things I love to do is “romanticize” the simple moments of life. You don’t need to wait for a special occasion to enjoy life; make everyday moments feel special.
Whether it’s drinking your coffee from a beautiful mug or taking an afternoon walk, these small moments add up to a life that feels more joyful and fulfilling.

Don’t overlook the power of a cute coffee cup or the joy of listening to your favorite playlist. Life is made up of tiny moments—make them count.
Listen to Music
Music is magical. It’s like instant therapy that shifts your energy from heavy to light in no time. I always have a playlist ready to lift my spirits when I’m feeling down.
From upbeat tracks that make you want to dance to soulful melodies that calm you, music has the power to change my mood almost instantly.

Create your own “funk-busting” playlist. Whether you’re in the mood to groove or just want to feel more peaceful, the right tunes can totally shift your energy.
Get Out of the House
Sometimes, when you’re feeling stuck, the best thing you can do is just change your environment.
Going for a walk, grabbing coffee at your favorite café, or even just sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air can make a world of difference.
When I’m feeling down, I love to take a leisurely walk.

I listen to a podcast, notice the little details around me—the changing leaves, the breeze—and before I know it, my mood has lifted.
Nature, movement, and fresh air are all incredibly healing.
Limit Time with Negative People
One of the most important ways to protect your energy is by being mindful of the people you surround yourself with.
If you’re in a funk, the last thing you need is to be around people who drain you or bring negativity into your life.
Set boundaries and prioritize your mental health by limiting interactions with people who don’t uplift you.
Remember: it’s okay to say no, and it’s okay to protect your peace.

Conclusion: Take Charge of Your Day
We can’t control everything that happens to us, but we can take ownership of how we respond to it.
Be mindful of your day, structure it in a way that supports your well-being, and incorporate the activities that bring you joy.
You don’t have to do everything at once, but by taking small steps toward feeling better, you’ll find yourself naturally shifting out of that funk.

Additional Resource to help you slow down
Feminine embodiment & Self Love Practice
I created my “Unleash your Feminine Power” to help you really start diving into your own unique power.

In this course, you will learn to connect with your body through some very sensual movements.
There is no fancy choreography to worry about. I really wanted to make this as simple as possible.
The goal is to give you a somatic practice that you can implement into your daily routine in order to start embodying your authentic self.

It is high time we start prioritizing our relationship with our own body too.
Because in order to be truly happy and content in life, I really believe you need to strike for a balance.
That means feeding your soul, your heart, your body.

And this is the goal of my ” Unleash your Feminine Power“.
The beautiful thing is that once you start getting in touch with that fire within, it only grows from there.
This energy will go on to light up your path, simultaneously guiding you through life.
So in a way, it is your own inner guiding compass. 💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
Also, don’t forget to stay in touch for my Bali self love women wellness retreat, for pure feminine embodiment and lots of dancing also.
