How to Overcome Low-Energy Days: Finding Motivation, Tracking Your Cycle, and Embracing Self-Care
This blog post is based on Episode 50 of my podcast, She Thrives with Stef Barti. If you prefer to listen, you can check out the original podcast episode
In this episode, I’m doing something a bit different – no script, no fancy editing, just me sharing a raw, real moment of struggle and triumph from my personal life.
Sometimes, life gets in the way, and we hit those low-energy days when we just don’t feel like doing anything.
Whether it’s hormonal changes, a busy schedule, or simply a slump in motivation, we all go through times when pushing through feels like a monumental task.
In today’s episode, I want to take you on a journey through one of those days and share how I managed to push through, lift my mood, and find my silver lining.
Let’s dive in.

Real-Life Struggles: Rock Bottom Days
We’ve all been there — those days when it feels impossible to drag yourself out of bed, let alone get to the gym or work on the things you really care about.
For me, it was one of those days when I just couldn’t muster the energy to do anything productive.
I had signed up for a gym class weeks ago, but when the day came, I couldn’t bring myself to go.
I had that all-too-familiar feeling of wanting to cancel, turn around and go home, to avoid any responsibility.

I almost did just that, but I realized I had to push through, even if it was only for my own sense of accomplishment.
It’s frustrating, right? Signing up for something because it excites you, only to be met with that moment when you just can’t get yourself to show up.
But I did it anyway. I managed to make it to the gym and, not only did I complete one class, I ended up doing two! 🎉🥹
The moment I finished, I was flooded with that post-workout high — a feeling that I always forget about in those low-energy moments.
And that made it all worth it. It felt amazing to be proud of myself for pushing through.
Finding the Silver Lining
What helped me push through that resistance and get myself to the gym?
One thing was focusing on what I enjoy about the experience.
I knew I really liked the instructor, and that alone gave me the motivation to show up.
It wasn’t just about the workout; it was about the people, the energy, and the community that came with it.
I also reminded myself that I didn’t have access to the same types of classes back home.

For example, today I was doing handstand training and contortion, which isn’t something I can easily do on my own or find nearby.
The uniqueness of the experience helped shift my focus from how hard it felt to go, to how great it would feel to experience something I can’t normally do.
So, when you find yourself in a slump, try focusing on the “why” behind what you’re doing.
If you need some help, I created this self love course to ignite the goddess in you ✨“Unleash Your Wild Feminine” ✨
What’s the silver lining? What’s the one thing that can make it worth the effort? For me, that silver lining was knowing I was getting a rare experience that I couldn’t replicate at home.

Tracking My Cycle: Understanding Low-Energy Days
As I’ve mentioned before, my journey has been filled with ups and downs in terms of my health, particularly with hormonal imbalances like PCOS, endometriosis, and the aftermath of a hysterectomy.
One thing I’m learning is how my body’s natural rhythms — like my luteal phase — can contribute to those low-energy days.
While I no longer have a period due to my hysterectomy, I’m still tracking my cycle to understand my body’s needs better.

This is one of the reasons I’ve decided to invest in a cycle tracking tool again, like the LadyComp thermometer earlier, which I used for years as both a natural contraceptive method and a way to monitor my hormonal health.
Getting back to this kind of tracking is important because it allows me to recognize patterns in my energy and mood. When I can anticipate a low-energy day, I can plan accordingly and adjust my expectations.
If you’re someone who experiences hormonal fluctuations, tracking your cycle might help you understand when you’re more prone to those low-energy slumps and plan self-care accordingly.

Embracing the Process: Getting Professional Help
I also want to mention that, while I’m all about navigating life’s challenges in alternative ways, there are times when it’s important to seek professional help.
Lately, I’ve been feeling like I need some extra support managing my ADHD, especially when it comes to my inability to follow through with things I’ve signed up for.
This happens to me more than I’d like to admit, and I’m finally acknowledging that I might need some external support to help me manage it.
I’m not opposed to medication, but I’ve decided not to go that route yet.
I want to try other solutions first — things like therapy, coaching, and lifestyle changes that will help me stay on track without relying on medication.
Sometimes, getting the right kind of professional help can be a game-changer, and I encourage you to consider that if you feel stuck in a similar cycle.
A Win Is a Win
At the end of the day, what matters most is that I showed up for myself, even when I didn’t feel like it.

I didn’t let the slump win, and I’m proud of that.
Whether you’re struggling with low-energy days, hormonal imbalances, or motivation issues, remember that even the smallest win counts.
One thing I’ve learned is that progress doesn’t always look like perfection. Sometimes, it’s just about showing up, even when you don’t want to. And that’s more than enough.

Feminine embodiment & Self Love Practice
I created my “Unleash your Feminine Power” to help you really start diving into your own unique power.

In this course, you will learn to connect with your body through some very sensual movements.
There is no fancy choreography to worry about. I really wanted to make this as simple as possible.
The goal is to give you a somatic practice that you can implement into your daily routine in order to start embodying your authentic self.

It is high time we start prioritizing our relationship with our own body too.
Because in order to be truly happy and content in life, I really believe you need to strike for a balance.
That means feeding your soul, your heart, your body.

And this is the goal of my ” Unleash your Feminine Power“.
The beautiful thing is that once you start getting in touch with that fire within, it only grows from there.
This energy will go on to light up your path, simultaneously guiding you through life.
So in a way, it is your own inner guiding compass. 💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
