Reclaiming Your Attention, Protect Your Energy and Thriving in a Busy World
This blog post is based on Episode 63 of my podcast, She Thrives with Stef Barti. If you prefer to listen, you can check out the original podcast episode.
Welcome to She Thrives with Stef Barti, the empowering and self-actualization podcast for women who are dedicated to living their best lives and thriving unapologetically.
I’m so excited to be here today, and in today’s episode, we’re diving into the topic of Reclaiming Your Attention and how it will change your life for the better.
The Importance of Routine

I talk a lot about ADHD on this podcast, and recently, I’ve realized just how crucial having a routine is for me. When I’m thriving, I have a routine, but whenever I fall off track, it’s because something has disrupted that routine.
For instance, I record my podcast at the same time every day in the morning, and when construction started happening upstairs, it threw me off. But we’re back on track now!
Embracing DND in Your Life
DND is a big theme in 2025, and I want to talk about how I’ve been embracing it. Over the holidays last year, I realized there was just too much noise in my life. Everything was moving too fast, and it became overwhelming.

One of the best examples of this overload is WhatsApp groups. I started thinking about when these groups became such a norm. I remember my first chat group request—I was confused but also excited, because it was a new way to connect, especially during the isolating days of COVID.
The Evolution of WhatsApp
WhatsApp used to be a very private, personal messaging tool for family and friends. But it started being used for business purposes.
It took me some time to adapt, but eventually, I got used to it. However, what really threw me off was the speed at which communication was happening. Suddenly, I was getting constant notifications and messages, and that was overwhelming.

Sensory Overload and ADHD
As someone with ADHD, sensory overload is something I have to be mindful of, and WhatsApp is a perfect example of how information overload can impact my mental health.
Even if you don’t have ADHD, you should still be aware of how the constant flow of information can affect your anxiety, stress, and overall well-being.
We absorb so much information without even realizing it, and it can take a toll on us both physically and mentally. That’s why I advocate for being intentional about the information we consume and the energy around us.

What is DND?
For those of you who don’t know, DND stands for Do Not Disturb.
It’s a tool that has allowed me to reclaim my time and attention.
Last year, I did an accidental “extreme DND” experiment over the holidays where I didn’t check my Instagram for an entire week.
I didn’t even log into the app once, and while I’m not a heavy Instagram user, this experience was eye-opening.
I realized how much energy Instagram was leaking from me. Even though I didn’t notice it at the time, not checking the app gave me a huge boost in productivity and energy.

The Power of Taking a Break from Social Media
During that week without Instagram, I was able to focus on my personal projects, hobbies, and work in ways I hadn’t before.
I managed to get through so many books and make significant progress on my goals. While I’m not saying you should always be productive, it was a clear indication of how much time and energy social media can take from us.
Reclaiming Your Time
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by information and notifications, I encourage you to pay attention to where your time is going and consider reclaiming some of it back.

The pace of life is only speeding up, especially with the rise of AI and constant digital access. If you don’t take control of your attention, it will be taken from you.

Technology and Social Media
I’m not anti-technology—I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities it provides, like empowering women and connecting people.
Platforms like TikTok have done an amazing job of bringing important issues to light, and I’m all for the decentering , especially in the female space.
However, constant digital access is exhausting. We need to be mindful of how much of our attention we give away to these platforms and to other people’s demands.

The Balance Between Social Connection and Self-Care
While I’m not advocating for being anti-social or avoiding relationships, I do believe that we need to be intentional about how we use our time.
When we constantly give our attention to others, it can leave us feeling drained and scattered.
That’s why embracing FOMO ( fear of missing out) and using the “Do not disturb mode” more is so powerful—it’s a tool that allows you to regain control of your attention and energy.
If you need some help to embody your magic, I created the perfect self love course to ignite the goddess in you ✨“Unleash Your Wild Feminine” ✨

Creating Boundaries and Reclaiming Attention
One of the things I’ve learned from using DND is that it’s okay to mute WhatsApp groups and set boundaries.
Muting notifications isn’t rude—it’s a way of protecting your energy.
Setting aside dedicated time to focus on yourself and your goals is crucial for thriving in today’s fast-paced world.
The Value of Reclaiming Your Time
We all have 24 hours in a day, and how we spend those hours is incredibly important. If you want to accomplish your goals and take ownership of your life, you need to take a step back from the noise.

Use your time to nourish yourself, focus on your well-being, and reclaim your energy.
A Call to Action
If you’re someone who has big dreams and goals, like many of the Thriving Girlies in our community, reclaiming your time and attention is key to achieving success.
The pace of life is only going to get faster, and it’s up to you to protect your most valuable asset—your attention.
Spirituality and Self-Sovereignty
This year, I’ve been diving more into spirituality, and I’ve been exploring the concept of self-sovereignty.
It’s all about transformation and embracing your inner power.
I’m excited to continue exploring these topics on the podcast this year!

Final Thoughts and Upcoming Content
In future episodes, I’ll be diving deeper into DND, rituals, and habits that have been helping me thrive.
I’ll also be sharing tangible actions you can take to improve your life and protect your attention.
Stay tuned for more on this!
Unleash Your Divine Feminine
Before I go, I want to share something close to my heart. I’ve created the Divine Feminine course, where I help women tap into their feminine power.
This is something that many women struggle with, but it’s something that comes naturally to me, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Additionally, when you purchase the course, 11% of the sales will go to helping women, survivors domestic violence, and 22% will go towards providing little girls access to education.
Your purchase not only helps you grow but also supports causes that are close to my heart. It’s also about helping the female collective in those challenging times. 🫶🏾

Additional Resource to help you slow down
Feminine embodiment & Self Love Practice
I created my “Unleash your Feminine Power” to help you really start diving into your own unique power.

In this course, you will learn to connect with your body through some very sensual movements.
There is no fancy choreography to worry about. I really wanted to make this as simple as possible.
The goal is to give you a somatic practice that you can implement into your daily routine in order to start embodying your authentic self.

It is high time we start prioritizing our relationship with our own body too.
Because in order to be truly happy and content in life, I really believe you need to strike for a balance.
That means feeding your soul, your heart, your body.

And this is the goal of my ” Unleash your Feminine Power“.
The beautiful thing is that once you start getting in touch with that fire within, it only grows from there.
This energy will go on to light up your path, simultaneously guiding you through life.
So in a way, it is your own inner guiding compass. 💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
Also, don’t forget to stay in touch for my Bali self love women wellness retreat, for pure feminine embodiment and lots of dancing also.
