7 Powerful Ways to Stop Feeling Jealous & Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Welcome to She Thrives with Stef Barti, a podcast dedicated to empowering women to live their best lives and thrive unapologetically.
This blog post is based on Episode 34 of my podcast, She Thrives with Stef Barti. If you prefer to listen, you can check out the original podcast episode.
In today’s episode, I’m tackling something many of us struggle with: jealousy.
Do you ever find yourself comparing your life to others and feeling that sting of jealousy? You’re not alone.
Many women struggle with this problem. And in a way, a lot of it has to do with how we were raised within the patriarchal system. 🤷🏽♀️
But there’s hope.
But what if I told you that jealousy is actually a powerful tool for self-awareness and growth?
Let’s dive into how you can transform jealousy from a source of insecurity to an opportunity for self-improvement.
What Is Jealousy and Why Do We Feel It?
Jealousy is often seen as a negative emotion, but it can be a reflection of something deeper.
When you feel jealous of someone—whether it’s a friend, a colleague, or even a stranger on social media—what you’re really experiencing is a recognition of something you want in your own life.
It’s a reflection of a desire, a dream, or even a fear of lacking something that someone else has.

But here’s the good news: understanding this is the first step toward healing.
The jealousy you feel isn’t about the other person; it’s about something within you that needs attention.
The more you unpack this feeling, the more you’ll realize that jealousy is just a clue, an opportunity for growth, and a way to understand your own desires.
Reframing Jealousy
How to See It as a Sign, Not a Curse
I want you to stop thinking of jealousy as a heavy, shameful emotion.
Instead, think of it as a sign.

It’s a sign that there’s something within you that you’re ready to work on.
When you experience jealousy, it’s a powerful opportunity for self-awareness. Jealousy invites you to ask: “What is it about this person or situation that I desire in my own life?”
When you begin to shift your mindset around jealousy, it becomes a tool for personal growth.
Rather than spiralling into negative emotions, you can use that energy to fuel your own self-improvement.
The Power of Your Inner Circle
One of the best ways to deal with jealousy is to carefully curate your inner circle.

I’ve learned that who you surround yourself with has a massive impact on your mindset and energy.
In the past, I used to be a people pleaser—letting everyone into my life, regardless of how they made me feel.
But I’ve come to realize that my inner circle is prime real estate, and I only make room for those who uplift and inspire me.

When you surround yourself with women who are supportive, encouraging, and genuinely happy for your success, there’s no space left for jealousy.
It becomes a collective force where everyone’s success is celebrated, and there’s a shared understanding that we rise together.

The Importance of Collective Success
I often say that when one of us wins, we all win. The beauty of a tight-knit sisterhood is that you share not only your struggles but also your victories.
When your friends succeed, you succeed, because their growth is a reflection of your own growth.
This shared energy fosters a sense of community, and suddenly, there’s no room for jealousy.
This mindset is crucial: someone else’s success doesn’t diminish your potential.

In fact, it shows you what’s possible for your own life. When I see my friends excelling in their careers, relationships, or personal growth, I don’t feel threatened.
Instead, I feel inspired and motivated. Their success is an invitation and a blueprint for me to level up, too.
Energy Is Everything
What You Put In Is What You Get Back
The more you invest in yourself, the more you’ll see that energy reflected back to you in your relationships, your career, and your life.
If you’re constantly giving energy to jealousy, comparison, and negativity, that’s exactly what you’ll receive.

But if you choose to focus on positivity, self-love, and support for others, you’ll attract more of that energy into your life.
This doesn’t mean you have to be perfect, but it does mean being mindful of the energy you’re putting into the world.
Are you someone who uplifts others, or do you find yourself constantly complaining and draining the energy around you?
It’s time to choose which energy you want to be known for and cultivate.💕

Practical Steps to Overcoming Jealousy
Focus on Yourself
Take the time to really invest in your own growth.

Whether that’s through physical health, mental clarity, or spiritual growth, when you work on yourself, jealousy fades away.
If you need some help to embody your magic, I created the perfect self love course to ignite the goddess in you ✨“Unleash Your Wild Feminine” ✨
When you’re focused on your own journey, there’s no room for comparison.🫶🏾
Romanticize Your Life
I’m passionate about romanticizing your life and embracing “main character energy.”
Life isn’t about perfection—it’s about living fully and appreciating every quirky, unique aspect of who you are.
The more you embrace your uniqueness, the less you’ll feel the need to compare yourself to others.
Surround Yourself with a Strong Tribe
If your current circle of friends doesn’t lift you up, it might be time to find a new one.
Seek out women who share your values, support your dreams, and cheer you on.
There is strength in community, and a powerful sisterhood can help you overcome jealousy by showing you that we rise together.

Be a Cheerleader for Others
One of the best ways to cultivate a positive mindset is to genuinely celebrate other women’s success.
When you cheer for others, you send out positive energy that will come back to you. Plus, you’ll attract like-minded women who value community and collaboration.

Embrace Your Imperfections
Perfection is overrated!
The more you embrace your quirks and imperfections, the more you’ll realize there’s nothing to compare.
You are a unique, beautiful creation, and that’s something to celebrate every day.

The Final Word
At the end of the day, jealousy is a choice.
While I do believe that some people are more jealous than others. Still, if that is something you struggle with, you can definitely make massive changes.
You can choose to let it control you, or you can choose to transform it into a tool for self-improvement. And I’m writing this with the utmost compassion 🫶🏾
When you start focusing on your own growth, appreciating your uniqueness, and surrounding yourself with a supportive tribe, jealousy becomes a thing of the past.
There’s no space for it in your life anymore.

Remember, you are worthy of love, success, and joy just as much as anyone else.
Celebrate your own journey, and cheer for others as they celebrate theirs. There’s enough space for all of us to thrive.💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
