Another interesting thing is the various types of travels that people love to partake in.
My fellow lady travellers are particular fond of wellness traveling.
Women purchasing power has started to increase. And we are also looking to improve our lives both at home and also through enriching international experiences.

So what exactly is a wellness vacation?
This can look different for one person to another.
But in general it is a type of travel where the traveler prioritizes health and mindfulness.
The goal is to replenish ones self through various self care activities and to come back feeling feeling refreshed.
Now a wellness vacation looks different from one person to another.
To some the best wellness trip is one spent hiking in the wilderness. Whereas other people prefer to be pampered and have lots of spa days.

Notable Wellness Activities: For nature lovers, especially for those who want to hike in pristine places away from civilization. Waterfall lovers will also love Iceland.
I love Iceland so much that I have a women only travel group coming up. We will be a small group of girlies, living our best lives and chasing the Northern lights.

As if the mainland wasn’t offering enough. Well those tiny little islands are pure bliss.
You can enjoy your time relaxing at the most idyllic beaches.
How does yoga in some of the most beautiful places on earth sounds to you?
You can spend time in Mallorca, Menorca or even got to Ibiza.

By the way, Ibiza is so much more than partying. The entire northern part of the island is pretty much geared towards mindful living.
I will also host a women dance wellness retreat in the beautiful island of Menorca. I can’t wait to have a magical week in this beautiful paradise in a small intimate villa.

Portugal
Portugal used to be an underdog. But the secret has been out for a little while now.
There is so much variety when it comes to wellness vacationing in this beautiful country.
Albufeira is an excellent destination for you to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
Again, just like Spain, you will find amazing story, food culture and world class wine.
So many people like myself travel for the wine alone.
All this to say that you will not regret choosing Portugal for your next wellness vacation.
Notable Wellness Activities: slow living in nature + yoga and organic eating . It is also very popular amongst surfers.
That’s where I had my first ever surfing experience and it was MAGICAL.

India
India doesn’t really need much introduction when it comes to spirituality. It is a place that is extremely rich on that aspect.
I do want to add a caveat to say that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend India as a first option. Especially If you have never traveled abroad solo before.

India might be overwhelming. That’s why I recommend this as an option for veteran travellers.
Notable Wellness Activities: Spirituality
Nepal

I like to joke that Nepal is an India “light” version.
Nepal is also very popular for hiking in some of the most magical land ever. That said, there is so much more to Nepal than hiking.
I fell in love with the beautiful lakeside region of Pokhara.

Enjoy the best massage of your life from blind massage therapists.

You can also escape to the oasis, the beautiful garden.

Nepal has something for everyone, even for non hikers.
I was lucky to spend some time doing a 10 days silent vipassana meditation while overlooking the Himalayas.
So magical and I still get goosebumps thinking about it today.
Notable Wellness Activities: Hiking, various spiritual activity, sound healing in Pokhara, vipassana meditation

Morocco
Morocco is a very unique travel destination for wellness. It has a very rich culture and you can do a variety of things there.
Places like Essaouira is very popular for surfing. Agadir in particular is another surfing Mecca.
That said, I need to add a disclaimer for Morocco.
Just like I did for India, I recommend Morocco under specific conditions.
Many people like to ignore the fact that Morocco can be a difficult destination for women.
Many women go and report cat calling and various other sexist behaviours.

It is for that reason that I can only recommend Morocco as part of an organize retreat. At least for your first time visiting the country.
I am not trying to offend anyone but it is important for me to be honest and transparent in this blog where the focus is on the women perspective and travel experience.
All I am trying to say is at the end of the day, I need to be able to sleep at night with a clear conscious.
So yes you can go to Morocco but I also wanted to keep it real with you girlies. π
Notable Wellness Activities: Surfing, cultural exploration, hiking
Georgia ( Country)

Georgia is a beautiful country in the caucasus region.
It is also slowly gaining popularity since it checks so many points. There is also Armenia which is a favourite country of mine.
But when it comes to wellness vacation, Georgia has better infrastructure and more experience in that tourism sector.
Georgia pretty much has it all. From horseback riding to hiking in the beautiful mountains to wine tourism and slow living.
Then it is also a Mecca for active traveling and fitness lovers.
Notable Wellness Activities: Hiking, Skiing, mindful living, wine tourism

Nicaragua
Nicaragua is absolutely beautiful.
Think paradise on earth.
If you are really into nature, greenery and the environment, this is a top contender.

It is especially popular with animal lovers.
Just like I said earlier, self care vacations look different for every one.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be a yoga vacation. For example, you could go on an animal conservatory trip or one of their many volunteering options.
Notable Wellness Activities: I recommend it for nature, animal lovers and volunteering
Bali
Now Bali needs no introduction. This is the Mecca of wellness. When I think of the classic eat pray love scene, Bali is exactly what comes to mind.

The sky is the limit when it comes to Bali. It is know for the classic yoga vacation.
Now it is also gaining popularity for various other things such as surfing and food tourism,
Greece

The main reason why I include Greece here is because I think it is another major classic.
Greece is one of my favourite countries for travel with purpose. I absolutely love this place.
Yes that even includes bustling Athens.
Something about Greece makes you come alive.

Notable Wellness Activities:
There’s lots to do but Greece is amazing for slow living. If you are looking for the perfect break away from your stressful life at home, Greece has you covered.
Yes of course , you can spend time at world famous places like Santorini and Mykonos.

Milos is super tiny but packs so many mighty beaches.
