Embracing Your Inner Jack-of-All-Trades: How to Tackle Having Too Many Hobbies
Welcome to She Thrives with Stef Barti, a podcast dedicated to empowering women to live their best lives and thrive unapologetically.
As women, we often feel the pressure to focus on one thing, master it, and become the best at it.
Yet, many of us are multi-passionate individuals who have a wide variety of interests and hobbies.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or guilty for not sticking to just one thing, but I’m here to tell you: there’s no shame in being a “jack of all trades.”

In this post, I want to talk about how we can embrace being multi-passionate without feeling scattered or overwhelmed. I’ll share how I’m learning to manage my many interests, hobbies, and passions, and how you can, too.
This blog post is based on Episode 17 of my podcast, She Thrives with Stef Barti. If you prefer to listen, you can check out the original podcast episode.
Why Being a Jack-of-All-Trades Is Actually Beautiful
Let’s address the old saying: “Jack of all trades, master of none.” For years, this phrase has been used to suggest that being good at many things means you’re not exceptional at any one of them.
But I want to challenge that notion.
When I reflect on my own life, I’ve realized that I might be a “jack of all trades,” but that doesn’t mean I’m “a master of none.”
In fact, I believe there are different levels of mastery, and just because you’re not the absolute best at something doesn’t mean you should shy away from doing it.
You don’t need to be the world’s top expert to enjoy an activity or make a living from it. For example, let’s say you enjoy making rings.
You don’t have to be the best ring-maker in the world to find joy in it and perhaps even make a career out of it. The key is enjoying the process and improving little by little.
In fact, being a jack-of-all-trades often means that you’re just one step ahead of someone else, which gives you the opportunity to teach and inspire others. You don’t have to be the ultimate expert in everything you try — just enjoy the journey and allow your passions to unfold.

How to Manage Multiple Hobbies Without Feeling Overwhelmed
I get it. Life can feel like it’s constantly pulling us in different directions, and when you have so many hobbies, interests, and passions, it can be hard to know where to focus your energy.
I’ve definitely been there.
Personally, I have a ton of passions.
I’m a dancer, rollerskater, I work in travel, I practice jiu-jitsu, I’m learning pole dancing, I love hiking, I enjoy stretching and mobility exercises, and I even like learning languages.

Each of these interests feeds my soul in different ways, but managing them all can feel like a juggling act. The key is not to abandon any of them but to create a strategy that allows me to give each one the attention it deserves.

Here’s how I’ve started to manage it:
Make a List of Your Passions
Write down all of the things you enjoy doing, whether it’s hobbies or even professional interests. This helps you visually see where your energy goes.

Prioritize What Matters Most
Ask yourself: Which of these passions are non-negotiable for me?
What activities are aligned with my long-term goals? For example, jiu-jitsu, pole and dance are extremely important to me, so I make sure to train regularly. This gives me a sense of consistency and fulfillment.

Allocate Time for Each Passion
This is where the magic happens. Once I’ve prioritized my activities, I create a schedule where I can devote time to each one.
For example, I make time for my daily jiu-jitsu training, and I set aside specific hours for dancing, stretching, and even learning languages. The key is to find small pockets of time — you don’t have to do it all at once.

Be Realistic About Frequency
You don’t have to do everything every single day. I might take one ski trip a year, and that’s perfectly okay.
It’s about finding a rhythm that works for you and maintaining consistency without feeling overwhelmed.
Small, Consistent Efforts Add Up
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that small, consistent efforts really do add up over time.
For instance, I might only commit to 15 minutes of stretching each day, but at the end of the year, that’s over 90 hours of mobility work.
Similarly, if I learn a language for just a couple of hours every week, I’ll have spent over 100 hours by year’s end. It’s not about perfection; it’s about progress.

Stop Feeling Guilty for Having Multiple Interests
Society often tells us to specialize in one thing, to focus all our energy on a single career or passion, but I’m here to tell you: It’s okay to have many interests and passions.
In fact, embracing them can lead to a more fulfilling, well-rounded life.
You don’t need to feel guilty about having multiple hobbies or interests. Instead, see it as a strength. Life is too short to only focus on one thing.
You are allowed to explore and enjoy whatever brings you joy, even if it’s a little bit of everything.

Remember: You don’t have to do it all at once, but as long as you commit to consistency, progress will follow.
Final Thoughts
If you’re someone who has a lot of different interests and feels torn between them, remember that you don’t have to be the best at everything — just enjoy the process and give yourself permission to be a “jack of all trades.”
Allow yourself to be multi-passionate without guilt, and create a system that helps you nurture each hobby without overwhelming yourself.
Prioritize, schedule, and stay consistent.
You are a beautiful, unique creation, worthy of pursuing all the things that make your heart sing.

Feminine embodiment & Self Love Practice
I created my “Unleash your Feminine Power” to help you really start diving into your own unique power.

In this course, you will learn to connect with your body through some very sensual movements.
There is no fancy choreography to worry about. I really wanted to make this as simple as possible.
The goal is to give you a somatic practice that you can implement into your daily routine in order to start embodying your authentic self.

It is high time we start prioritizing our relationship with our own body too.
Because in order to be truly happy and content in life, I really believe you need to strike for a balance.
That means feeding your soul, your heart, your body.

And this is the goal of my ” Unleash your Feminine Power“.
The beautiful thing is that once you start getting in touch with that fire within, it only grows from there.
This energy will go on to light up your path, simultaneously guiding you through life.
So in a way, it is your own inner guiding compass. 💕

Women Self Love Wellness Retreat
I am so passionate about women empowerment. Everything I do is based on this. I want to see more women embrace their authentic selves. Trust me life gets so much better.
That’s the main focus of my self love women retreat. In this Wellness retreat, we go deep. I really love to connect with my fellow sisters.
That’s why I only do small groups of 10-12 women.

This retreat is an invitation to embody your feminine and to dive into radical self love. Growth and shedding past limiting beliefs is the focal point.
We do this through various workshops, wellness practices such as breath work and lots of somatic movement.

As a dance teacher, of course we will also be using the power of dance and music to process, release and shed things that are holding us back so we can be born again.
Welcome to our transformational retreat where the focus is all on YOU.
Not only that, but we do it in style and comfort.

Our next retreat is in a breathtaking villa on the beautiful island of Gozo Malta. We will be staying in our own private villa.
And did I mention our own private chef? with our own private pool 🤭.

It is the perfect time to slow down and prioritize yourself.
Also, don’t forget to stay in touch for my Bali self love women wellness retreat, for pure feminine embodiment and lots of dancing also.
