Best Ribs in Santorini: Mexican Restaurant “Senor Zorba”
Yes, it is true that the food in Santorini is amazing. And it probably never crossed your mind to go there to eat Mexican food. But let me tell you that if you ever need a break from the amazing Greek cuisine and scrumptious Mediterranean seafood diet, do give this restaurant a try.
We had no idea there was a Mexican restaurant on the island of Santorini. Besides, we’re the type of travelers who prefer to stick to the local cuisine of our host country. However, we were so intrigued when we accidently stumbled upon this little gem while driving the whole caldera. So we decided to give it a try.
And lo and behold, this is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurant out there. Senor Zorba not only delivered but also served us with the juiciest fall off the bone ribs of our lives.
Where are they located?
The restaurant is located along the main caldera and it is really hard to miss it. They also have plenty of parking spot across the road so you don’t have to worry about that. We first discovered the restaurant after we’ve picked up our car rental and were driving from the port into the main town of Fira.
Another reason to always keep your eyes pilled when traveling to a new place. You just never know what little gem you will find 🙂
What time do they close?
After doing a full day of sightseeing, we ended up going to Senor Zorba a little bit later than we would have liked, but they stay open quite late. Do make sure to give them a call before dropping by but I believe they close around midnight. The sign outside even says they open from 12 to 12.
When should you go?
I would recommend going a little bit before sunset time. This way you get to experience the place during the daytime and also get the great sunset show all in one. It is a must for you to make a reservation. We showed up late and we barely found a front view table by the caldera.
If you only care about eating, then you should not worry about this too much. The restaurant has plenty of places. But most people want to sit on the terrace as close to the caldera as possible and enjoy their food with the million dollar view, rightfully so.
So should you eat at Senor Zorba Mexican restaurant while in Santorini?
I vote a big fat juicy yes!!!
Well hear me out! Now if you are only in Santorini for a day or two, then no I would not say that you absolutely have to stop by Senor Zorba. But for anyone who’s already been to the island or anyone who find themselves spending more than 3 days, then yes, it is a nice change of scenery.
The location of the restaurant alone is a reason to go. It is on the caldera but not on the busy stretch. You really feel that you are removed from the crowds and the whole experience is beyond relaxing. Did I mention the view is breathtaking?
Trust me! You will cherish the memories of this dinner for a long time.
Moreover, the price is very reasonable. This is not fine dining but a great quality price meal with an amazing view and unique atmosphere.
What’s there not to like?
