A Photo Diary of Tbilisi: The City of Cats

February 14, 2023

There’s been a crazy phenomenon around the world lately. Everyone I know has absolutely lost their mind. Hell! I myself have totally lost mine too.

What am I talking about?

Well, I’m talking about the cat frenzy.

Yes!!! Come on! Please tell me I’m not the only one. I’m totally cat obsessed and there is nothing I love more than to admire these beautiful creatures and make a mini cat photoshoot in different destinations.

It’s quite fascinating to me how they have different vibe and their character can be heavily influenced by their place of residence sometimes.

Without further ado, I present to you a mini cat series featuring the Georgian cats of Tbilisi. Well obviously, I won’t be covering every single cat of Tbilisi but the few ones that were nice enough to interact or even go as far as pose for us 🙂

Stray Cats of Tbilisi – A Photo Collection

It all started with Salem!

Salem was such a beauty with her short dark black hair. A bit shy at first, but you can tell she was enjoying the attention.

Salem definitely loves having all eyes on her. Do you blame her though? Look at this stunning model.

She poses for us with such finesse.

Everyone could tell, Salem was a natural and this wasn’t her first rodeo.

Later on, just when we thought we’ve lost Salem… Guess who came back to photobomb my friend and I?

Yes! It’s our little Salem. Aww!! She loved us so much she just couldn’t stop following us 🙂

Once Salem finally left, we went back to out business trying to get to mother Georgia and visiting the best of Tbilisi.

And guess what we found while minding our own? Yep, must have been the holy gatto grail! 🙂

There were so many of them taking a long deserved midday nap… It must be the heat of the roof as the sun warms it up that gets them so attracted to that spot.

Wait a minute, omg,  is this Salem playing with the green mesh?

Now we knew this little kitten wasn’t our Salem.

After all, Salem wasn’t the only black Georgian cat in town haha. But where is this little fella going , walking with such conviction?

As if he was late to work…

Oh here we go! haha! We should have known better 🙂 Where else would our gatto go besides to the food bowl ? 🙂

I’m telling you, Tbilisi had one of the most friendly cats I’ve ever seen, unlike the Santorini cat snobs ( haha).

Aww! Look at Giorgi trying to befriend Anastasia.

This melts my heart. Aww

Giorgi just wants a good pet and a nice little massage

Who doesn’t like a good cuddle, huh?

Our boy Giorgi definitely does!

“One more time meow! Hmm… Feels so good”

Oh! But wait a minute! What just happened? Well Giorgi got his cuddles and petting. I guess he suddenly remembered that it was dinner time 🙂

And just like that it was buh-bye!

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

See you next time Giorgi!

The End

I hope you liked my cats chronicle. Please let me know if you also like to pay attention to those tiny little locals whenever you travel to a new place. They can have so much character. And I do believe they are just as equally important and are also part of a place atmosphere.

Cheers to more cats chronicles and these amazing tiny citizens that make the world so much better 🙂
