One Day Warsaw Itinerary- An Alternative Guide to The Capital
If you’re looking for an alternative Guide to the Polish capital Warsaw, you’re at the right place. In this Warsaw travel blog, I try to take you beyond the popular attractions so you get a feel for the city’s soul.
Warsaw, Poland is such a magical city and you definitely won’t regret your visit. Funny thing is it took me a little bit longer to get there. I kept choosing Krakow over the Polish capital.
Warsaw is definitely the type of place that you keep falling in love with the more time you spend there.
This Warsaw blog is a little bit of an alternative guide to the city. Let’s say you’ve already done all the to do’s and obligatory attractions. Now you would like to relax and just go with the flow.
Or perhaps, you only have one day but can’t be bother with lining up for the popular and classic sights in Warsaw.
Yes I feel you. So let’s dive in!
Hala Mirowska Market

This is a great place to mingle with the locals. You can find all sorts of things there, from fruits to meat and even electronics.

Be on the Lookout for Arts All over the city

This is really what I like about Warsaw. There are so much art going on throughout the city, literally everywhere.

Find some cool Spots for Impromptu Photography

If you enjoy photography, you will be in for a treat. Keep those phone batteries all charged up and have fun discovering cool spots and creating unique shots.

Check out the highest rated Mexican Restaurant El Popo
Very few of us can resist live music & Tacos ๐
Also, Yes I know, I know!
You’re in Poland. So why the hell am I referring you to other ethnic cuisines?
But the reality is that if you’ve spend some considerable time in Poland, at some point, you might simply be craving something else.

Plus I still find it so puzzling to find myself in a Mexican restaurant all the way in Poland. And the craziest thing above all is reading the Mexican menu but in Polish, the uncontested hardest language in the whole world.
You see?
Anything can turn into a unique experience. It’s all about perspective.
Wander around with no goals & just see where your feet take you

No I am not trolling you, I swear. The thing is every time, I look back at my travels, my free days just wandering around always turn out to be the most enjoyable and most memorable ones.

I really believe this allows you to fully immerse yourself into the local culture instead of being preoccupied with ticking things off of a list.
Grand Theatre Warsaw

If you keep walking past the Mexican restaurant, you will see this grandiose building. I thought it was quite beautiful.
Jablonowski Palace

Right accross the Grand Theatre is this other grand edifice. They are pretty much facing each other and it feels very otherworldy to be standing right in the middle, imagining a bygone time.
Old Town Square

Chances are you will end up there regardless. The old town is beautiful and the square often has street musicians playing their respective craft. This is also where you will find other significant monuments like the tall Sigismund’s Column.
Warsaw Barbican

This is also located in the Old town square. I didn’t go inside but I think it is worth admiring the beautiful architecture and red color from the exterior.
Pop into Polka Magda Gessier for the adorable setting and deco

This little restaurant was so cozy and the decor inside is just absolutely whimsical.

When I walked in, they were playing the classic “La Bohรจme” by Charles Aznavour. This transported me straight to some great childhood memories.
Talk about setting the mood! ๐
Eat some Polish Waffles, ice cream and desserts

Have a sweet tooth? Indulge in some Polish waffles and ice cream while taking a stroll in the old town.

Marvel at the beautiful doors

This can be a whole adventure in itself. So many beautiful ancient art spread out all over the old town. You can turn it into your own personal treasure hunt.
Attend a chopin Concerts

Classical music lovers, rejoice!
There is no better place to experience a Chopin concert than right there in the Polish composer’s hometown.
Pop into local Handcrafts Markets

Now this is one of my absolute things to do. They always change though. So just keep your eyes open for any ongoing handicrafts pop up market. There should be a one around the old town square.

Carmelite Church
Honestly, I don’t really care for churches when I travel. But I thought this one had a very interesting slightly baroque architecture.

Plus I really liked how you could see a picture of what it looked liked a couple centuries ago. It’s always eerie to see those comparisons.
You can enjoy the history lesson and admire the church from across the street.
Walk through the Posh side of Old Town

Just keep walking passed the Carmelites church on Krakowskie Przedmiescie. That street has tons of important buildings such as the presidential palace.
I really like how it has an old European aesthetics and is just absolutely beautiful. It did feel much more posh than other parts of the old town vicinity.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers

I accidently stumbled upon this historical sight. They often have parades going on in that square too.
Rest in a Local Park

I will be really surprised to see just how green Warsaw is. It is a perfect mix of cosmopolitan city life without sacrificing nature.

That’s why I do recommend you slow down a bit and do some people watching on a bench in one of the many parks,
Chimi Churri Argentina

Here I go again, telling you to eat exotic food in Poland. But how can I not recommend this amazing Argentinian restaurant? Honestly one of the best empanadas I’ve had in a very long time.

The Alchemist Cocktail Bar
This is a perfect way to end the day. With a good cocktail at this concrete jungle. You can get a good burger along with a nice craft beer.
